Title:
1Maxim GorkyLanguage school
2HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
- Maxim Gorki Language school is a municipal
school with 47 years of history. The existence of
the school started in 1962 with the foundation of
three eighth grade language classes teaching
Russian language at First middle polytechnic
school Ivan Vazov
3- On fifth July 1963 the school became the
independent Maxim Gorki Russian language high
school, and from first September the same year,
the gathering of the students began. The quick
imposing of the school in the city educational
life gave Elena Lilova an opportunity to found in
1965 two factory profiles-trip in Russian and
French. - In 1966 development of the school and the
quicken interest to foreign languages force
differentiation of the French classes in separate
school. 19 classes remained and the reception for
8th grade is reduced at the expense of the newly
opened French School. This did not interfere to
the student activities.
4- In 1983/1984 school year an early foreign
language teaching was initiated. The School
becomes school with Russian language teaching.
The work with youngest first grade begins - Since 1986 the two language schools Russian
language school and the foreign language school
use the building on street 62 Tsar Ivan
Shishman. In first of September 1988 the school
has been renamed to language school with teaching
of foreign languages Maxim Gorki with two
degrees of teaching early foreign language with
reception from first grade and intense teaching
of English, German and French for students after
7th grade. -
- In 1995/1996 school year an intense teaching of
Spanish and Russian was initiated
5Who is Maksim Gorky?
- Aleksey Maximovich Peshkov , better known
as Maxim Gorky, was a Russian/Soviet author, a
founder of the socialist realism literary method
and a political activist.
6- Maxim Gorky (also spelled Maksim Gorki) is one of
the giants of 20th century Russian literature and
theater, known for his realistic depictions of
how terrible it is to be poor and oppressed.
Gorky himself grew up in rough times and was a
lifelong spokesperson for the underclass. His
political activism led to several years of exile,
in spite of his popularity with Russian readers.
By 1900 Gorky was a famous literary figure,
thanks in part to help from Anton Chekhov. His
short stories and his first novel, Foma
Gordeyev (1902) gave him notoriety as well as
critical success, but his outspoken opposition to
the rule of Nicholas II led to his exile to the
island of Capri (1907-13)
7- After the 1917 revolution Gorky's criticism of
his friend V. I. Lenin and the Bolsheviks led to
another period of what seems to be self-imposed
exile, this time mostly in Italy (1921-1931). - He continued to write, including plays such
as The Counterfeit Coin (1926) and Yegor
Bulychov (1931) and the novel The Artamov
Business (1925). When Gorky returned to Russia he
was greeted as a great Soviet hero and awarded
just about every national honor there was. For a
while Gorky had the reputation of "selling out"
to Joseph Stalin's brutal regime, but the reasons
for his return are unclear and nobody questions
his sincere sympathy for the downtrodden. His
death has long been a matter of speculation
either he died of natural causes or Stalin
ordered his murder. - His other works include the plays Na dne(1902,
also known as The Nether Depths and The Lower
Depths) and Mat' (1907, also known as Mother),
the book The Confession (1916) and a series of
long memoirs that spanned pre- and
post-revolutionary Russia.
