  • First watch around 1500 made by Peter Henlein in
    Germany
  • Had dial and hour hand
  • Later called Nuremberg eggs because of their
    shape

  • Balance or hair spring made watches accurate so
    they were only off about five minutes a day
  • Credit was given to Christian Huygens of Holland
