Model 1100 Forest Chopper Rollers
A Model 1120, 12 foot chopper equipped with a
folding drawbar for transport requirements
Savannah Choppers are simple, heavy-duty
machines, built as single units in 8ft, 10ft, or
12ft sizes or as tandem machine in an 8ft. Width.
They are used prior to plowing, in areas of
heavy slash, to speed up the process of material
breakdown into mulch. It is important to chop
when material is dry on hot summer days, or
during winter frosts. In heavy debris, it is
often more effective to chop twice, with about
six months between treatments, using a single
roller behind a 250-300hp dozer, or 4WD tractor
or skidder.
The Savannah Tandem Chopper has an optional
hydraulic offset drawbar, which induces a
pivoting or screwing action as these heavy
rollers move over thick debris. To reduce the
load on an uphill run, the drawbar can be moved
hydraulically to center-pull configuration.
Both Roller are identical and the tandem machine
can be easily split up into two single machines,
if required.
