Nostra AetateDeclaration on the Relationship of
the Church to Non-Christian Religions
The Catholic Church rejects nothing which is
true and holy in these religions. She looks with
sincere respect upon those ways of conduct and of
life, those rules and teachers, which, though
differing in many particulars from what she holds
and sets forth, nevertheless often reflect a ray
of that truth that enlightens all people.

The Church claims that Christ is the way (Jn
146) of salvation, and that all who come to
salvation will come through Christ, and through
his Kingdom, the Kingdom of God.

It is the teaching of the teaching of the
Catholic Church that God in ways known to
himself offers to people outside the Church,
salvation within their particular situation.
These people may share in the salvation of Christ
through their own religious paths. There is one
way to salvation but other religions contain
elements which come from God and through these
elements salvation is offered.
