- A report usually tells about the events that have
taken place in some order.
4There are different kinds of reports. Newspaper
reports, reporting on activities and events that
have taken place in school,etc. What is a report
? It is a narrative from of writing which
normally reports a sequence of events in some
chronological order.
5- 2. How do we write a report?
- There are some important characteristics
common to all kind of report writing. - These are stylistic appropriateness
- correctness

- sequencing
- chronological order
- Look at the following sentences carefully.
They are not in sequence. Rearrange them
7- and place them in the correct order.
- The fox jumped up and tried to pluck the grapes.
- Finally it gave up and declared that the grapes

8The correct sequence of the above can also be
guessed by paying attention to sequence markers
such as once, again and finally. Time
relationships between sentences can be signaled
by using certain words . There are three major
divisions of time relationships.
9- Previous to given time reference
- Earlier ,former, preceding, previous, already
as yet, before ,first, formerly, so far , yet
,before that ,before then, until now - (B) Simultaneous to given time reference

10- contemporary, simultaneous ,at present, at this
point, meantime, meanwhile, in the mean-time,
now, presently, simultaneously. - (C) Subsequent to given time-reference
- following, later, next, afterwards, again,
immediately, since, then, after that.

Then use the information to complete the report
by writing suitable words or phrases in each
