Why is this training important?
  • Identifying a suspicious vehicle may link a crime
    or series of crimes.
  • Investigators may think they are closing in on a
suspect, however, they need that something extra
    to close the case.
  • We want you to be comfortable and assured in
    providing information.

When does it become suspicious?
  • A vehicle becomes suspicious when it simply is
    out of place
  • The business is closed.
  • There are no lights in the area.
  • No headlights
  • Person inside is lying low or leaning back.

  • A person is suspicious when
  • Subject is dressed in all dark clothing.
  • Person is looking around as if they are watching
for police or witnesses to their act.
  • Area is not lit.
  • Carrying tools.
  • Business is closed.

Be a good neighbor!
  • This means getting involved.
  • One will surely receive a sense of satisfaction
by helping to solve or prevent a crime.
  • Be aware of things that seem out of place.
  • Carry a cell phone or a pen.
  • Dont be afraid to get involved.

How to Report an In-Progress Incident
  • To report something in progress, i.e. you are
witnessing a burglary or theft, call 911.
  • If you think a person is about to commit a crime,
call 911. A police officer can simply contact
this person or check on a particular vehicle
    during a cursory investigation.

How to Report Suspicious Activity
  • If you think the police would be interested in
what you have seen, but dont think a 911
    response is necessary, you can
  • Call 302-834-2620 ext. 203
  • Email crime stoppers- https//www.tipsubmit.com/We
    bTips.aspx?AgencyID346
  • Notify your agency who can forward the
    information to police.

9
You can remain anonymous!
  • Your identity is important to you and us.
Although it certainly helps if you personally
come forward, we do not always need to know who
    you are.
  • One can call 911 and refuse to give their name-
    Troopers will still respond.
