What is NCTM?
- NCTM is the largest nonprofit professional
association of math educators dedicated to
improving the teaching and learning of

- NCTM is a public voice of mathematics education,
providing vision, leadership, and professional
development to support teachers in ensuring
mathematics learning of the highest quality for
all students.

About NCTM
- Founded in 1920, NCTM is the worlds largest
mathematics education organization, with nearly
90,000 members and 250 Affiliates throughout the
United States and Canada.

What do they do
- NCTM has developed a set of standards for school
mathematics that address content, teaching and
assessment. - As the primary professional organization for
teachers of mathematics in grades K-12, the NCTM
has the responsibility to provide broad national
leadership in matters related to mathematics
education. - These standards are guidelines for teachers,
schools, states to use in planning, implementing,
and evaluating high-quality mathematics programs.

Conference and Events
- NCTM holds an annual meeting and several regional
meetings each year, with a combined attendance of
30,000. At these meetings, teachers of
mathematics and others interested in mathematics
education attend lectures, panel discussions, and
workshops and view exhibits of the latest
mathematics education materials and innovations.

BGCTMBowling Green Council of Teacher of
Mathematics
- The BGCTM is a professional organization of
students enrolled in teacher education programs,
planning to teach mathematics. - BGCTM is open to all students, particularly
Secondary Integrated Mathematics, Middle
Childhood (Mathematics concentration), and Early
Childhood majors.

Membership Fees
- The membership fee for BGCTM is 10.00 for a one
year membership. - This fee will allow for free admission to all
meetings, workshops, guest presentations, pizza
parties, and drawings.
