Hydrocarbons etc) - Assessment of actual situation and possibilities
of development in Bizerte lake. - Ecotoxilogy and bio supervision of the coast
- Monitoring of Phytoplankton and toxic
contaminants in Mollusks production areas. - Observation of the sea in connection with the

- In the MELMARINA Project, the fieldwork was
undertaken in Tunisia, during February 2003, to
verify site selections and to collect basic
survey information pH, salinity, conductivity,
temperature, oxygen dissolved, Chla, Suspended
solids MES, anions (alkalinity, Cl-, SO42- ),
total phosphorus and total nitrogen. - Staff involved in this mission R. Flower, L.

Sampling
For sediment
Ekman Grab
- Surface sediment sampling was made by Ekman grab
and heavy metals was determined.

Fauna
- First, Surface sediment sampling was made by
Ekman grab, Cover of vegetation was assessed
within the Grab area (14x14 cm) - A second replicate grab sample was processed
through a pair of metal sieves (500 and 200 um
mesh size) and the numbers of invertebrates
(notably, the abundance of mollusk shells) were
estimated,
