Energy concept for future oil refineries with an emphasis on separation processes Antonio Brand o Department of Chemical Engineering Federal University of Campina Grande
The analysts forecast global refining catalyst market to grow at a CAGR of 3.28% during the period 2016-2020. Complete Report available at http://www.sandlerresearch.org/global-refining-catalyst-market-2016-2020.html. A catalyst can be defined as a component that accelerates a chemical reaction without taking part in the process. The amount of catalyst required is small compared to the amount of reactants. In most cases, the entire quantity of catalyst is recovered at the end of the reaction process. In refining, catalysts play an important role in cracking heavy carbon chains into lighter products such as diesel and gasoline. Hence, these are mostly used in processes subsequent to the post atmospheric and vacuum distillation units.
