1 IEC TS 62046 application and integration of
safety electrosensitive devices for body
detection Muting function for pallettiser
protection
2 muting function
To permit access of the material and prevent
access by persons. Example of application

62 muting sensors crossed beams with concurrent
checking
- The crossing point of the two light beams S1 and
S2 shall be located behind the - sensing field of the ESPE in direction of the
hazardous zone. - t2(s2) t1(S1) 4 sec. max
IEC TS 62046
72 muting sensors crossed beams with concurrent
checking
- Due to an incorrect positioning of the muting
beams S1 and S2 the pallet keeps the - safety light grid in Muting condition for a
long time. - If a is larger than 200 mm that could create a
space sufficient to enter in the - dangerous area
IEC TS 62046
82 muting sensors crossed beams with concurrent
checking
- An object with a diameter of 500 mm must not be
able to start the muting function. - That gives assurance of a correct distinction
between the material and a person.
IEC TS 62046
92 muting sensors crossed beams with concurrent
checking
YES
NO!
- The crossing point of the two sensors beams
should be positioned at the same level - as, or higher than, the lowest beam of the
safety barrier in order to avoid easy - manipulation of the system and unintentional
activation of the muting function.
IEC TS 62046
104 muting sensor with parallel muting beams with
entry / exit pallet sequence timing control ( T
sensor position)
- The muting sensors shall be installed so close
to the safety barrier so that it is - difficult to enter the danger zone without
being detected by preceding or following - immediately the pallet or the transport system
(d1 e d3 lt 200 mm). - The distance between any 2 muting sensors shall
be sufficient so that thety cannot be - actuated simultaneously by a trouser leg (d2
gt 250 mm). - All the 4 sensors must to be simultaneously
intercepted for at least a little period of - time.
IEC TS 62046
114 muting sensor with parallel muting beams with
entry / exit pallet sequence timing control ( T
sensor position)
- An opaque cylindrical object with a diameter of
500 must not be activate tha muting - function.

MUTING
- The muting function can be activated only if two
muting sensors are activated at the same time
t2(s2) t1(S1) max. 4 seconds - An opaque cylindrical object D 500 mm ( a
person) must not be able to initiate the muting
function (IEC TS 62046). - The cylindrical test object is detected by the
light curtain before it activates the muting
sensors. - The cylindrical test object activates a muting
sensor and interrupts a beam of the light curtain
before activating the second muting sensor. The
muting function is not activated and the safety
outputs of the light curtain are brought to the
off-state.

- Safety and Responsibility
- Thanks to
- Built-in Muting Photocells that allows the
position of the - crossed or beams is always correct and
complying the - safety requirements (IEC TS 62046) in order to
recognize - the material and distinguish between an object
and an - operator.
- Built-in Muting Photocells avoid that the
end-user can - manipulate the position of the beams that
could lead to - dangerous condition.
-
- Less risks for the Machine Manufacturer and the
End User.

Safety and Responsibility With the ML / ML
TRX and MT / MT TRX models compliance with the
regulatory requirements -IEC TS 62046- regarding
the geometry of the muting sensors and all the
other safety parameters is automatically
guaranteed.
