SIP Review Overview
  • Background State Requirements
  • Colorado State Board of Education sets high
    statewide goals for improvement of education
  • Each local district develops its own goals and
    accountability program tailored to the community
  • Each school develops its own goals
  • Each school writes an annual report
  • The District reports annually to the State

BVSD Review Process
  • District staff and DAC work together in the
    annual accountability reviews
  • DAC reviews and grades SIPs in terms of
    compliance with the accreditation process
  • District staff reviews and grades the schools
    progress in meetings its performance targets and
    other indicators of achievement

Levels of Accreditation
  • Fully Accredited
  • Accredited Academic Assistance
  • Meet with district support team every 3 weeks for
    review of major decisions
  • Accredited Academic Probation
  • Annual Site Reviews
  • District decides programs/resources for the
    school possible reassignment of personnel
  • Non-Accredited
  • Failure after one year of Academic Probation
  • Possible reorganization reconstituting the school

DAC Review
  • DAC members use a scoring guide to grade each SIP
    with a maximum of 100 points
  • Schools with lt80 are referred for technical
    assistance
  • Granted provisional acceptance (due to state
    reporting timeframe)
  • Attend a technical assistance workshop in
    October/November
  • Review DAC comments, make changes or corrections
    and resubmit report to district staff

DAC Members Receive EOY/SIP on Oct. 18 and
Submit reviews on Oct. 25

Review Teams
  • 3 person teams will be headed by an experienced
    DAC member
  • Each team will review 4 reports
  • Each team member reads and grades each report
  • Team members then meet and consolidate their
    grades and comments on a summary sheet
  • Teams may utilize the pick-up and drop-off
    meetings to perform the reviews on Oct. 15 and
    25 or they may choose to meet at an alternative
    site and time
  • 3-person team of DAC Exec members will re-review
    any report with a grade of lt80

  • TIES is being gradually phased into the district
  • About half the schools in the district have had
    their administrators go through the multiple day
    training
  • DAC has two scoring guides
  • TES and Non-TIES
