• 1. Study Visit to the Netherlands (June 2007)
  
• First detailed acquaintance with the Dutch
  Resettlement System (legal framework, selection
  process, procedure on the territory, reception
  and integration)
• Meeting with representatives of Dutch
  organizations involved in resettlement (MFA, IND,
  COA, UNHCR, Dutch Refugee Council, Barneveld
  municipality etc.) and getting information about
  their role in the resettlement process
• Tour de AZC Amersfoort

2. Selection Mission in Kenya (October 2007)

• Pre-briefing in the Netherlands information
  about preparations for the selection mission,
  pre-arrival activities, meeting Dutch
  participants of selection mission etc.
• mission to Kenya - Look and Learn activities
• participation in asylum interviews, social
  interviews and medical checks
• possibility being present at everyday discussions
  about the acceptance/non-acceptance of particular
  resettlement cases
• Visit to Kakuma Refugee Camp (1 of 2 UNHCR Camps
  in Kenya, North-Eastern Boarders of Kenya)

3. Cultural-Orientation Training (November 2007)

  preparations for the selection mission, meeting
  participants etc.
• - Kenya Participation at CO Training and common
  everyday evaluations

  information and experience between participants

• Discussions about further possibilities and
  limits of the Czech Republic in the resettlement
  field
• Discussion of experts in 3 working groups
  specialized on selection, reception and
  integration

Lessons learned from DSIP Project

• Acquaintance with the whole Dutch resettlement
  system in a theoretical and practical way, as
  well
• Getting experience with resettlement at all
  stages
• Possibility to identify feasible moments and
  limits for the Czech context
• Consideration of necessary demands on
  resettlement (financial and human resources,
  organizational and logistic aspects)
• -Importance of practical cooperation between all
  engaged bodies
• Good organization and communication necessary

• Resettlement system must be accommodated to
  conditions and capacities of every resettlement
  country
• -Real integration of resettled people is of a
  high importance, managing too high expectations
  of resettled refugees helps
• -Resettlement should be a durable solution for
  the refugee and for the society of the
  resettlement country as well
