- History of Khoresm dates so long back to ancient
times that only few civilizations can equal its
age. Many hundreds years before opening the Great
Silk Road the ancient Khorezm was already
connected by water and land with Europe and the
East, Siberia and the civilizations of the South.
Khiva is placed in the west of Khorezm region.
The architecture of Khiva amazes by its

mountain ridge in the North West, Chatkal
mountain ridge in the North, Fergana mountain
ridge in the East, and Alai and Turkestan ridges

region gave Fergana Valley the name Golden
Valley. - First ancient settlements in Fergana Valley
appeared 5-6 thousand years ago. Its assumed
that Fergana of the 6th-4th cc. BC was in

civilizations.
