• Evaluate a suggested strategy for conducting a
  whole school mapping of the use of ICT in
  subject teaching
• Start to create an implementation plan for your
  school
• Assess the resources required for developing ICT
  in subject teaching
• Evaluate the future use of SAM-learning in your
  school

Step 1

• Heads of Subject Departments / Curriculum Areas
  complete the following forms with subject
  teachers
• Subject Department ICT Audit
• ICT Map for Curriculum Area

Step 2

• Curriculum Deputy/Senior Teacher responsible for
  cross curricular ICT and Head of ICT (Subject
  Leader) meet to
• Collate completed "Subject Department ICT Audit"
  and "ICT Map for Curriculum Area"
• Complete Cross Curricular ICT Audit Summary

Step 3

• The Head teacher, Curriculum Deputy / Senior
  Teacher responsible for cross curricular ICT and
  Head of ICT meet to
• Discuss "Cross Curricular ICT Audit Summary" and
  issues emerging
• Draft action points for the School Improvement
  Plan

Implementation

• On completion, the action points are written
  into the School Improvement Plan.
• Details of how these actions will be implemented
  will be written into the Subject Department
  plans.
• See 2 examples from Lewisham schools

Whole School INSET day to develop lesson plans

• Session 1 Overview of ICT in the school
• (summary of mapping exercise)
• the use nationally from Impact 2 research
• ICT at KS3 what is covered in the lessons
• Sessions 2 3 Departmental INSET (with
  consultant support) to produce lessons for
  implementation
• Session 4 Feedback for whole school picture of
  what will be attempted

• Discuss with a colleague how you could use this
  strategy in your school.
• Create an implementation plan that you can take
  back with you.
• Feedback Share your plans with the conference
  group

• How might you encourage further use of software
  in your school?
• How might you encourage further use of online
  learning for class work and homework in your
  school?
• Explore SAM-learning How might you encourage
  long-term use of SAM-learning in your school?

Activity 3 Staff Confidence

• Continuing Professional Development in the use of
  ICT in subject teaching. The timing for the
  roll-out is
• Spring 2003 - Initial roll-out in 32 LEAs (Key
  Stages 1 and 2 literacy and mathematics and Key
  Stage 3 science)
• September 2003 - All subjects will roll out
  across England.
• The materials have been developed by four
  contractors 3T Productions Ltd (Indigo Visions),
  New Media (Science Consortium), SfE and
  mPowerNet.
