5PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
To express an action that is going on at the time
of speaking
Mary is cleaning vessels.
Rita is playing foot ball.
6PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
To express an action which was taking place at
some particular moment in the past.
He was cooking chicken when the guests arrived.
7FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE
To express an action that is in progress at
a given future time.
When I get back home, we will be
going for a party.
8PRESENT PERFECT TENSE
To express an action that began in the past and
which was completed by the time of speaking.
The bird has flown away with the baby.
Tony has cut some green vegetables.
9PAST PERFECT TENSE
To express that some action had taken place
before another was begun or completed.
The bus had left before Lata
reached the stop.
10FUTURE PERFECT TENSE
To express an action that will be completed
before a particular time in future.
Rahul will have reached office by this time.
11PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
The baby has been playing in the tub for two
hours.
Mohan has been attending to the phone since
morning.
12PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
When I reached home, Kamal had been studying
since morning.
13FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
By 12 oclock, mother will have been cooking for
two hours.
