  • Make sure you and the device are grounded first.
    You can use the following devices
  • Grounding wire
  • Grounding strap

  • How To Expand Your Hard Drive
  • STEP 1 Find a compatible hard drive for your
    current system.
  • Take down the hard drive information from your
    pc and contact a parts store.

  • STEP 2 Once you have a compatible drive remove
    your old hard drive and replace it.
  • Remove the outer casing of your pc.

  • Locate your hard drive. Usually it will be in a
    bracket. Find the screws and remove them.
    WARNING Dont lose the screws!!!

  • Unplug the interface and power cables from the
    back of your old hard drive. Now replace your old
    hard drive with your new one. Plug back in your
    power cord making sure that everything is lined
    up correctly.

  • Now plug your interface cable into your new hard
    drive. Line up the end of the cable with the back
    of the drive. There is a notch which will guide
    you.

  • Finally place the bracket back in place and make
    sure all screws are securely fastened.
  • REMINDER
  • Every pc is different so PLEASE consult your
    manual for your specified remove procedure.

  • Most pcs today use DIMM memory. DIMM is a memory
    stick with 168 pins. Other memory include SIMM,
    which has 30 pins or 72 pins. Each stick also has
    a speed which can be a PC100 or PC133 megahertz.
  • Memory is usually available in different
    megabytes (mb). For example 128mb, 256mb, 512mb.
    And some come in gigabyte (gb) to.
  • Every mother board has a limit to the amount of
    memory it takes. Always consultant the manual for
    your pc.

  • STEP 1 Find the correct memory for your
    specified pc. You can usually tell by removing
    your current memory stick (s).
  • Remove the outer casing of your pc.

  • On your mother board are many slots. Locate a
    long pair of slots with a white or crème clamp on
    both sides.

  • Gently push down on the clamps and the memory
    stick will pop right out.

  • Once the slot is empty replace it with your new
    memory stick.

WARNING Dont force the memory stick into the
slot. Make sure you are using the correct memory.
THE ONE YOU PUT IN SHOULD LOOK JUST LIKE THE ONE
YOU TOOK OUT!!!!

  • Most older machines may be running, Windows 95,
    98, 2000, Me or Millennium operating systems.
  • WARNING Upgrading your system will keep your
    files but selecting a new installation my delete
    them. Be sure to BACKUP your files.
