Title: OPAR
1 CLIVAR IOP Meeting June 2009
- OPAR
- Observatory of Atmospheric Physics of Reunion
Island - Robert Delmas (OPAR Director)
-
2OPAR Objectives
- Permanent station for long term atmospheric
observations dynamic and chemistry of the
troposphere and the statosphere in the context of
climate change in the southern hemisphere
(Température, ozone, UV Radiation, H2O, GHG,
aerosols) - Provide data for international research
monitoring networks - Provide data for scientific research (LACy and
partners) - Provide data for satellite validation (ENVISAT,
METOP (IASI, GOME2), MEGHATROPIQUES, ADM-AEOLUS
3OPAR OPERATIONAL INSTRUMENTATION

2004 A new campaign for the validation of IASI
was conducted from May to December 2007 The
instrument is now permanently intalled since end
of may 2009
6Reunion Island in networks for the observation of
Atmosphere
OPAR provides presently data for international
atmospheric observation networks that are NDACC,
SHADOZ, AERONET. Le location of Reunion in the
southern hemisphere in the Indian Ocean makes
OPAR a unique site for both stratospheric and
tropospheric observations. After its installation
at the Maïdo observatory (2010) OPAR aims at
becoming a global station of the GAW Network
(Global Atmospheric Watch, WMO)
