Factors that increase the release of mercury from
dental fillings

• Age of fillings Old fillings release much more
  mercury
• Surface of fillings gray-black surfaces, rough
  surfaces release much more mercury and tin
  than polished ones
• Smoking during smoking the release is 100
  times higher Smoking makes a more
  acid saliva
