• Knowing that the Holy Spirit personally dwells
  within the believer.

Introduction

• Because Christians live in the flesh it is no
  wonder that we have difficulty understanding the
  things of the spirit.
• The Bible teaches that the natural man cannot
  understand the things of God. 1 Cor. 212-14
• What we do is rationalize from our earthly
  vantage point the things that are not of this
  world.
• So, unless we are lead by the revelation of Gods
  word and accept what God revealed, we are no
  different than the natural man, because we rely
  on the natural mans mind.

Introduction

• Thus, when it comes to an understanding of the
  Holy Spirit some have difficulty accepting what
  the word of God explicitly teaches.
• Regarding the personal indwelling of the Holy
  Spirit The word of God teaches us this simple
  truth that is so difficult for many Christians to
  accept.
• We shall contrast the wisdom of men with the
  simple (not symbolic, nor figurative) Word of
  God.
• We shall also learn of the benefits of having the
  Holy Spirit within the believer.

• However, you are not in the flesh but in the
  Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in
  you.... But if the Spirit dwells in you. Ro.
  89, 11

• Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us,
  the treasure which has been entrusted to you. 2

• There are many questions we cannot answer but
  accept by the revelation of God. Isa. 558-9
• Calling It a Him many cannot rationalize the
  difference between the spirit that synonymously
  reflects the conscience (or active force) of a
  man with the living being that resides within a
  man.
• Believing He could exist among yet within the
  Godhead many cannot rationalize how three
  distinct personages can make up the personhood we
  call God. Cp. Jn. 11
• Comprehending how He could dwell within this tent
  we call a human body many cannot rationalize
  this possibility therefore throw the thought of
  it away from his belief.

• Regarding the wisdom of men
• These include men who believe in God, the Christ
  and the Holy Spirit and may include those mighty
  and eloquent in their study of His Word.
• But because those in this group cannot
  rationalize with their human minds and therefore,
  justify whatever nuance of belief they have
  regarding the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
• Others will use figurative passages and
  automatically apply to the Holy Spirit.

• Objections to the personal indwelling of the Holy
  Spirit and the Word of God.
• We have the gift of the Holy Spirit not the
  Holy Spirit itself.
• The Holy Spirit Himself was in fact given as a
  seal and pledge for man. Eph. 113-14
• The fact that He has been given to us is Gods
  gift of salvation. Eph. 430

• The Holy Spirit can no more personally dwell
  within you than God HIMSELF can personally dwell
  within you within your very being.
• The word reveals/implies that a spirit dwells
  within or abides with man. Ecc. 127 Luke 2346
  Acts 759
• The word reveals that multiple spirits can dwell
  within a man. Mk. 56-9
• As multiple and varying spirits can dwell within
  man, it is absolutely possible for the Holy
  Spirit to dwell within man, even though we may
  not how He dwells within man anymore than how man
  (or, more likely the spirit of man) can dwell
  within Him (God, Christ).

• The Holy Spirit can no more literally and
  personally dwell in you than you can literally
  and personally dwell in the Holy Spirit.
• It has already been shown that spirits can dwell
  within man our own and others.
• Man may not know how but we can trust in Gods
  word to know that He (Christ, God) does, just as
  we are in Him. Ro. 89-11

Conclusion

• There will always be questions that man cannot
  answer, but will need to accept by faith its
  reality.
• For the benefit of soul receive the whole counsel
  of God and believe that Gods wonderful grace has
  brought the Holy Spirit as a gift and seal within
  you until the day of redemption comes.
