Mission Architecture
In this paragraph I will tell you all about the
missions architecture. An exterior balcony
crosses the front, supported by 4 Corinthian
columns flanking a small arched entrance. The
mission had simple clean lines. They had a
beautiful arched wooden door. All the walls
were 4 feet thick. That is about the height of a
7 or 8 year old. All the missions had bells and
bell towers. Mission San Francisco de Asis did
not have bell towers, only bells. The three
bells hang in niches above the entrance. The
church is 114 feet long, and 22 feet wide. Every
room was adobe with a tile roof and tile floors.
That is lots of tile compared to our house.

The Indians of the Mission
The Indians of the San Francisco Mission are very
interesting people. They were very territorial.
The tribe name is The Ohlone Indians. They would
always live in hundreds of small villages and in
those villages they lived with 80 - 100 Indians.
They would each have their own territory in the
village. The Ohlone would sometimes fight over
their territory to see who could get it. They
would mostly hunt or gather for food. They would
hunt for deer, fish, and grasshoppers., They
would gather strawberries, mushrooms, and
carrots. They would also gather clams, oysters,
grapes, and onions. Yet for some reason they
where skinny. Ohlones were where very clever
too.
