SCO Project Description
  • The State Controllers Office (SCO) 21st Century
    Project objective is to replace California's
    Human Resources and Payroll legacy applications
    with an integrated human resources management
    system (HRMS)
  • Software SAP
  • Integrator Bearing Point

CSU Project Description
  • The CSU/SCO 21st Century Project will integrate
    the CSUs Common Management System (CMS) baseline
    application and related HR and Payroll business
    operations with SCOs selected software

Key Project Goals
  • Support SCO effort to ensure uninterrupted
    services for CSU
  • Improve CSU business processes
  • Implement common automated interfaces supported
    by systemwide business processes
  • Enhance capabilities for faculty and staff to
    access and submit their HR or Payroll information
  • Establish CMS baseline as the primary collection
    pointand source for CSU HR data
  • Develop a CSU systemwide HR Data Reporting/Data
    Warehouse

The responsibilities and activities of the CSU
team fall into four key areas/teams

    each campus to assist with the successful
    implementation of this project

Campus Coordinator Role Definition
  • Primary point of contact at each campus for
    project-related activities and facilitate the
    flow of project-related information and
    coordination of project activities, such as
  • Disseminate project-related information to
    appropriate campus representatives
  • Coordinate the involvement of key staff members
    and experts from the campus in project-related
    activities
  • Respond to requests for information from the CSU
    Project Team, including surveys pertaining to
    campus practices, utilization of staff to discern
    training needs, campus module deployment
    schedule, etc.

  • Solicit and provide campus input and feedback to
    the CSU Project Team pertaining to the impact of
    change, campus culture, communication content,
    etc.
  • Coordinate activities surrounding the
    implementation of necessary business processes
    and applications (e.g. ensuring appropriate
    campus representatives attend training and/or
    ensuring a campus resource performs necessary
    data clean up)

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Effective communication skills verbal and
    written
  • Ability to follow through with assigned tasks or
    requests
  • Ability and authority to delegate tasks or
    requests
  • Ability and authority to communicate and
    coordinate with multiple functional areas and
    individuals, e.g. payroll tech, HR office, and
    Academic Personnel representatives

Campus Coordinator Time Commitment
  • The Campus Coordinator will be expected to
    participatein scheduled monthly teleconferences
    with the Project Campus Liaison, with more
    frequent interaction occurring occasionally, and
    to participate in various tasks
  • The Campus Coordinator will be expected to ensure
    the completion of various activities related to
    the project
  • Discretion of campus and Campus Coordinator to
    determine the amount of time the Campus
    Coordinatoractually spends conducting the
    variousproject activities or managing the
    activities through delegation to other campus
    representatives
