• August 1990 Iraq invades Kuwait
• They claim a historic right to the land
• They want Kuwait's oil supply
• Bush takes action
• He wants to protect the supply of oil to the
  west
  
• He wants to protect Saudi Arabia, a long time ally

• Bush gets UN support and a 28 country coalition
  together
  
• Tells Saddam he has until January 15, 1991, to
  leave Kuwait
  
• January 16 the war begins
• UN forces kill thousands of Iraq soldiers and
  only suffer 240 losses
  
• Iraq is forced out of Kuwait
• US doesnt want another Vietnam so we dont
  invade Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein
