College Prep Placement
  • Students earn a single grade for each course
    (Lecture and Lab). In order to pass a course, the
    student must pass the course with an
    SSuccessful. The other grades are
    PProgress, and UUnsatisfactory. To earn the
    grade of S students must complete satisfactory
    course work, lab work, and pass the final exams
    for each level.
  • In ENC 0021 and REA 003, students must take the
    State Final Exams.
  • After students have passed ENC 0021 and REA 003
    with an S they may register for ENC 1101.
  • All students entering Miami Dade College must
    take the CPT Reading, Sentence Skills, and Math
    Exams. The CPT Exam is mandated by the Florida
    Department of Education for all undergraduates
    entering tertiary education.
  • Students who score 83 points on the CPT Reading
    and Sentence Skills Exams are placed in ENC 1101
  • Depending on the Reading and Sentence Skills
    scores, students are placed in one of three
    levels of College Prep Reading and Writing.

  • READING LAB
  • Students in reading classes complete independent
    assignments designed to enhance their learning of
    course material. 3 contact hours
  • WRITING LAB
  • Students in reading classes complete independent
    assignments designed to enhance their learning of
    course material. 3 contact hours
  • SAIL LAB
  • An electronic classroom designed to assist
    students with their reading, math and writing
    skills. The SAIL Lab is optional and is
    skills-based.
