2- The Programme
- The European Initiative for Democracy and Human
Rights (EIDHR) was created by the European
Parliament in 1994.
- EIDHR aims to promote democracy, the rule of law
and human rights , in order to reinforce
sustainable development in third world countries
. - EIDHR micro-projects are small scale grants that
are awarded to local civil society organisations.
The grants are used to promote human rights and
democracy through community based interventions. - EIDHR micro-projects programme in Sudan is
administered directly by the Delegation of the
European Commission to the Sudan and projects are
selected through nationwide calls for proposals
(CFP). The 2005/6 call for proposals is the
second call launched in the country. - The minimum grant allocation will be 10,000 Euro
and the maximum 80,000 Euro.
- Allocations will depend on the demonstrated
capacity of the organization applying.
- The total amount available for this call is
1.075. 000 Euro.

- The following thematic priorities have been
identified for the present call for proposals,
all of which are equally ranked
- Fostering a culture of human rights
- Promoting the democratic process
- Advancing equality, tolerance and peace
- Eligibility for Application
- In order to apply organisations must
- Be a non-profit making legal entity registered
in the Sudan (or in special cases in one of the
countries bordering Sudan).
- Be a local non-governmental organization or an
institute affiliated to a higher education
institution.
- Have headquarters or a main office in the Sudan
(or in special cases in one of the countries
bordering Sudan).
- Be managed by nationals of the Sudan.
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and
management of the action, not acting as an
intermediary.
- Not affiliated to a political party.
- Have enough evidence to be able to demonstrate
the capacity to manage activities of a scale
corresponding to the size of the grant
requested. - Have a minimum one year documented experience
(preferable)
