  • Welcome To The Kidscloset

What Happened To The Sailor Suit?
  • Looking through some very early family
photographs taken at the back-end of the
nineteenth century I was struck at how children
    were all dressed alike.
  • The very young boys wore sailor suits or
roll-necked jumpers and shorts and the girls all
looked like something out of the pages of Alice
in Wonderland with long hair, plain frocks and
rather strangely some calf high lace boots.
  • Look at any shop or catalogue of childrens
clothing today and the huge variety means it is
highly unlikely two children will ever meet in
the street wearing the same clothes.

  • . Take a look at the selection of boys summer
clothes in an online store like Kids Closet and
there are hundreds of items to choose from.
  • Online stores such as this have the major
advantage over retail high street shops for the
obvious fact that they have much lower overheads.
  • This particular business has an interesting
difference in that it clearly shows the majority
of products are all brand new but there is also a
smaller selection of clothes and shoes that may
have been worn but are in an as new condition.

  • This means there are even better bargains to be
had as the price reflects these offerings. It is
strange to think that this sort of recycling of
quality and unmarked products is actually what
used to happen those hundred odd years ago when
the average Victorian brood contained anything
    from four to twelve children.
  • During that time it was absolutely normal for
clothes to be passed down from one sibling to the
next. It all made perfect sense as children
out-grow perfectly good clothes and shoes so
    quickly.
  • Shoes in particular were nearly always passed
down in even the wealthiest families as they were
in those days nearly always hand made from the
only known material of leather. These were
expensive and in many poorer families there were
no shoes at all for the youngest.

  • But lets not get carried away by the past and
instead look to the future and the fantastic
choices parents and their kids have with new
shoes and clothing at a site like this were huge
    discounts can be found.
  • When you look at all the fun shoes that can be
found here you are reminded that the difference
between those long gone days and today is that
    synthetic materials and modern computer
controlled manufacturing machines can churn out
new products at great speed unlike the old
cobbler who might spend a day making one pair.
  • As with many sites like this one the stock has a
high turnover so it is always worth returning at
frequent intervals to see what the latest stock
consists of and also to check on the great
bargains in reduced prices for quality designer
    wear.
  • This is particularly useful when the clothes are
grouped in summer and winter seasons as they are
    here.
