What is the simple predicate or verb?

• It is the main word or words in the complete
  predicate.
• Remember students the main word or words in the
  complete predicate.
• Example. Hercules battles the nine-headed Hydra.
• Ask yourself what does Hercules Do?

What is a verb?

• A verb is a word used to express an action, a
  condition, or a state of being.
• Example. His nephew helps him in the struggle?
  What is the simple predicate or verb in this
  sentence?

Add these two definitions to Cornell Notes

• What is a linking verb 6th graders?
• A linking verb tells what the subject is!!

• What is an action verb?
• An action verb tells what the subject does, even
  when the action cannot be seen.
