Title: NASA LaRC InSITE NOW3790

1
NASA LaRC InSITE (NOW-3790)
  • The objectives of the Synthetic Vision
Integrated Test and Evaluation (InSITE) program
are to develop technologies with practical
applications that will eliminate low visibility
conditions as a causal factor to civil aircraft
    accidents. The technologies developed will
replicate the operational benefits of flight
operations in a bright, clear, sunny day,
regardless of the outside weather condition. The
concepts will emphasize the cost-effective use of
    synthetic/enhanced vision displays, worldwide
    navigation, terrain, obstruction, and airport
    databases and Global Positioning System
    (GPS)-derived navigation to eliminate
    visibility-induced (lack of visibility) errors
applicable to all aircraft categories (Commercial
    Transport, Business, General Aviation, and
    Rotorcraft).
  • NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC).
  • The InSITE project is part of NASAs goal to
    develop breakthrough concepts and technologies
for aircraft, airspace systems, safety, and
security. The WFF portion of this activity
includes project management and coordination, use
of the WFF airfield and airspace, and operational
    support.
  • Contract support is provided by CSOC, DynCorp
    and
  • WICC.
  • The Wallops budget for the project is
    approximately 35K.
  • Request for Support 02/19/2003
  • Technical Interchange Meeting 03/12/2003
  • LaRC Aviation Safety Review Board 05/07/2003
  • WFF Range Readiness Review 05/28/2003
  • Checkout Flights 05/15/2003 06/02/2003
