Role of NGOs
  • As a NGO with consultative status, Zonta is
    expected to provide information
  • expertise identifying and evaluating particular
    impact of social problems of women,
  • human rights observances in their countries,
  • opinion of Zonta members on issues such as
    disarmament, human rights, equality for women

Consultative Status with ECOSOC
  • ECOSOC co-ordinates the economic and social work
    of the United Nations and its specialized
    agencies
  • ECOSOC makes recommendations and initiatives
    projects relating to development, human rights,
    status of women, natural resources, world trade,
    etc.

Consultative Status with ECOSOC
  • Category II consultative status is granted to
    organizations which have a special competence
    in, and are concerned specifically with only a
    few of the fields of activity covered by the
    Council, and which are known internationally
    within the fields for which they seek
    consultative status.
