- Slate Valleys Skills Initiative (SVSI) Limited is
a non-profit co-operative, working mainly in the
field of adult education and project development. - We are generating a network of trainers and
artists from a variety of backgrounds to create,
develop, promote, and carry out innovative
community based training with a holistic approach
to learning. - Our objective is to develop an independent
training association which allows us to deliver
high performance and quality assured training for
professional and personal development

5Background
- SVSI Ltd has been in existence since 2000,
working in the field of organising events,
seminars and training projects such as Its our
Childrens Future, sustainable living
exhibition Dewiswch Chwi substance misuse/film
education, Sound of Slate sustainable creativity
projects, Tai Chi for Therapy, GigArt and
Intercultural Skills Link (ISL) - We initially set up to be a support network for
people, who are unemployed and underemployed and
want to work as self-employed trainers and
community developers. We lost members and
creative workers, because they set up on their
own or found jobs. - We are very proud of this!
- We lost as many and more, who left North Wales,
because they didnt have a future. - These are our failures!
- We are working for the local community - engaging
people on a variety of projects.

- The company is a non-profit making limited
company, organised as a co-operative. Members
are trainers in adult education from various
backgrounds and different fields of expertise
they also provide other services such as
translations or consultancies through S.V.S.I.
LTD. Ltd. The members sign a membership
agreement. Members are working freelance, 10 of
the invoice of their provided services will go to
S.V.S.I. LTD. - Members are also community organisations, which
are working on educational projects. - If members are not training in one year, they
pay an administration fee of 25 per annum,
payable at the 31st of December. The members
elect a board of directors at their AGM. The
board decides the responsibilities of the
Executive Management. At current, all work is
done voluntarily. Members of S.V.S.I. Ltd. are
obliged to participate on training. The company
advises and encourages members to improve and
update their knowledge in their field of
expertise and learn new skills. Each member is
responsible for his or her training development
at least with 30 hours per annum certified by the
company Board of Directors this includes
autodidactic learning.

11Service Provision
- S.V.S.I. offers a specially tailored training and
skills programme outside mainstream education,
specifically directed towards local community
needs and involvement. - We also offer courses to those outside Wales so
that they can enjoy this beautiful environment
and benefit the local economy. - All courses aim to take into account the needs of
the individual participants. - We can provide technical and organisational
support within the public, private and voluntary
sectors. - We are actively exploring the gaps in the
training market with a view to providing any
shortfalls that we discover. - Our focus is to become a networking hub for the
public, private and voluntary sector, which
informs, designs and provides. - Courses, Seminars and Workshops
- The majority of courses do not have any specific
requirements for participation, just an eagerness
to learn. - Courses are designed to take into account the
needs of the individual. - Any specific requirements for a course will be
clearly stated on the booking form. - We are open to organising tailor-made training
for groups and organisations according to needs
and requirements. - Special rates are available for group bookings.

projects. - Our main objective is to create projects of
sustainability, with a long-term usefulness for
