  • Minister Roberto Rodrigues expects an additional
    2.5 million hectares will be planted in the
    states of Sao Paulo and Para during the 2005-2012
    period.
  • McKinsey, a consultancy firm, anticipates that
    Brazil's ethanol output would increase from 17
    billion litres (4.5 billion American gallons) a
    year in 2006 to 160 billion litres by 2020.
  • Goldman Sachs projects that an annual supply of
    400 billion liters of ethanol is needed by 2040
    in the US, China, India and Brazil.
