Rationale of the project
  • Group of foreigners that are living for several
    years in the Netherlands
  • Low-educated woman with a low participation in
    the labour market
  • Risk of social isolation
  • They play an important role in the social
    preparation of the next generation

Idea of the project
  • The education in Dutch as a second language
    should be linked to the peoples situation
  • The subjects of project are immediately
    applicable in the daily situation at the
    childrens school

Objectives, aimes
  • The opportunity to enlarge the fluency and
    knowledge of the language
  • Learning about the Dutch way of teaching and
    education
  • By talking with Dutch parents the students come
    into contact with them
  • Practical in practice
  • Aims for Dutch as a second language and raising
    the children are integrated

  • For the language the enlargement of the speaking
    fluency, active and passive
  • The pedagogical contents of the dual route are
    the preventive offers for the parents for support
    in the education of their children

The method aims concerning the pedagogical
contents are the following goals
  • help along a good relationship between parents
    and children
  • preventing problems that can hinder the education
    and development of the children
  • the enlargement of the skills and knowledge of
    the parents concerning education
  • strengthening the parents self confidence

Criteria for success
  • motivated students
  • a group of parents with children of the same age
  • Parents with children at one school
  • Co-operation of the children's school(s) for the
    practical situations

Prospect of success
  • Fluent students
  • Less obstacles for the decision to go to the
    school
  • Parents can support their children better

Obstacles, risks
  • The practical tasks are very labour-intensive,
    that why it is very unpractical when the children
    of the students dont come from one school

Time planning
  • For six month, three lessons a week.

Evaluations
  • By the target group they are very enthusiastic,
    they liked it very much and thought it useful.
    They think that they learned a lot
  • By the members the teachers missed reading and
    writing in the method, but for the most they were
    happy about this project
