What is an attachment?

• Any file sent via email
• Documents (Word docs, Excel files, PowerPoint
  presentations, etc.)
• Images (JPEG photographs, GIF cartoons, etc.)
• Programs
• Requires a program to read/edit the document or
  image

Viewing The File Type

• Many email clients will hide the file type from
  you save the document first, then look at it in
  Windows Explorer
• Tools (or View) ? Folder Options
• Find the view file types option and make sure
  its checked

• Pay attention to file size
• Try to save attachments in open file formats
• .rtf rather than .doc, .jpg rather than .psp,
  etc.
• NEVER open attachments that havent been scanned
  with anti-virus software
• Refer to Every File Format In The World for
  file formats you dont recognize
