with counties and county seats of Oklahoma.
Students also gain experience with Microsoft
PowerPoint.

High School Oklahoma History STANDARD 1 The
student will demonstrate process skills in social
studies. STANDARD 6 The student will
investigate the geography and economic assets of
Oklahoma and trace their effects on the history
of the state. STANDARD 8 The student will
examine factors that contributed to the
political, economic, and social history of
Oklahoma during the twentieth century. High
School U.S. Government STANDARD 15 The student
will identify and distinguish among the units of
local government in Oklahoma (i.e., counties,
cities, towns, and regional authorities) by
analyzing local public issues. High School World
Geography STANDARD 1 The student will use maps
and other geographic representations, tools and
technologies to acquire, process, and report
information from a spatial perspective. STANDARD
2 The student will use the concepts of places
and regions as the basic units of geographic
inquiry. STANDARD 6 The student will analyze

Materials
This activity requires personal computers with
Microsoft PowerPoint and an Oklahoma map (also
available in Oklahoma History textbooks or
internet).

- This exercise has three objectives. You may
complete them in the order of your choice. To
complete the objectives you will need to open the
PowerPoint presentation called OKcounty. It is
located at C\esri\projects\Okcounty.ppt. As
soon as you open the project, rename the project
by clicking file, then save as Name the file by
your initials_OKcounty (for example,
JCP_OKcounty). Save the file on your M drive.
Remember to save your work very often. - OBJECTIVE 1 Fill in the worksheet on the first
PowerPoint slide with the correct county seat and
state region. - You can use the map from your textbook or the
one at the Web Atlas of Oklahoma
(www.okatlas.org). Use the Tourist Region map
from the Recreation and Tourism category of the
Economic category at the Web Atlas for your
regions. Label the region with the geographical
equivalent of its tourist region. Red Carpet
Country Northwest (NW). Green Country
Northeast (NE). Great Plains Country Southwest
(SW). Frontier Country Central (C). Lake and
Trail Country South Central (SC). Kiamichi
Country Southeast (SE). - Fill in your name at the bottom of the
worksheet. - Print your worksheet.
