Pax Romana

  • Time of peace brought by
  • Emperor Augustus
  • Pax Romana lasted for 200
  • years
  • Romans prospered during
  • this time
  • Civilization spread and
  • cultures intergrated

A
15
Pax Romana Trade
  • Trade increased a lot
  • during the Pax Romana
  • Taxes on goods
  • brought into the
  • country were cut
  • The Mediterranean Sea
  • was safe for trading
  • and traveling
  • Wine and olive-oil were
  • the main products sold
  • Ships became very
  • popular
  • Rome was the center for
  • pottery, bronze, and
  • woolen cloth

16
Pax Romana Law
  • Laws should be fair to
  • Romans and non-Romans

  • equal after the new laws
  • 125 C.E. law was
  • standardized
  • Helped Rome govern large
  • areas successfully

17
  • The Evolution of Roman Government helped us with
our government today in many important ways.
Here are a couple things we concluded
  • The Republic was a building block that has
  • helped us with our democracy today. We now
  • let everyone vote instead of only rich
    people,
  • but without the Republic, democracy today
  • wouldnt be what it is today!
  • The Monarchy and the Empire also gave us an
  • idea of what not to do. It proved that a
  • Democratic government is more fair and the
  • citizens are more happy. When only one person
  • ruled, there were a lot more arguments than
  • there are when everyone has a say!
