2Basic Requirements
- TEC 11.253 Each year school year the principal
of each school campus, with the assistance of the
campus-level committee, must develop, review and
revise the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP).

- TEC 11.251 The purpose of the CIP is
- to improve the performance of all students
- for all student populations, including special
education, with respect to the academic
excellence indicators and any other appropriate
performance measures for special needs
populations (TEC 11.253) - to be supportive of the objectives of the
district improvement plan and must, at a minimum,
support the state goals and objectives for
education

the objective will be monitored and should be
written in incremental units such as every three
weeks, monthly, each semesternot in general
terms such as ongoing or August May.

- Formative evaluation criteria for determining
periodically whether strategies are resulting in
intended improvement of student performance - Examples of formative evaluations
- weekly check of lesson plans
- weekly and/or six weeks evaluation of student
projects and/or subject grades - regular inspection of attendance records
- examination of semester passing rates

on observation or experiment - involves data analyses that are adequate to
support the general findings - relies on measurements or observational methods
that provide reliable data - makes claims of causal relationships only in
random-assignment experiments or other designs
(to the extent such designs substantially
eliminate plausible competing explanations for
the obtained results)

proficient level of achievement on the state
academic assessment not later than 12 years after

problem that caused the school to not meet AYP - meets the requirements for professional
development activities specified under section
1119 highly qualified - is provided in a manner that affords increased
opportunity for participating in that
professional development

- establish specific annual, measurable objectives
for continuous and substantial progress by each
group of students - all public school students
- economically disadvantaged students
- students from major racial and ethnic groups
- students with disabilities
- students with limited English proficiency

later than 12 years after the end of the
2001-2002 school year.

notice about the identification to parents of
each student enrolled in a school identified for
improvement status, in a format and, to the
extent practicable, in a language that the
parents can understand.

- specify the responsibilities of the school and
the LEA, including the technical assistance that
the LEA will provide and the LEAs
responsibilities under section 1120A which
addresses fiscal requirements such as maintenance
of effort supplement, not supplant
comparability etc.

- include strategies to promote effective parental
involvement in the school

- The LEA must provide technical assistance as the
campus develops and implements the CIP and

improvement, an LEA shall develop or revise its
LEA plan in consultation with parents, school
staff, and others.

- include specific measurable achievement goals and
targets for each of the groups of students
identified in the disaggregated data consistent
with adequate yearly progress

- address the fundamental teaching and learning
needs in the schools of that agency, and the
specific academic problems of low-achieving
students, including a determination of why the
LEA's prior plan failed to bring about increased
student academic achievement

- incorporate, as appropriate, activities before
school, after school, during the summer, and
during an extension of the school year

and the LEA's responsibilities under 1120A which
