Project Goals
Project Results
  • To design a modular DC-AC power inverter for
    alternative
  • residential applications
  • Connect several smaller inverters to get an
    output of 120 AC voltage
  • and a power output of 1200 watts
  • My objectives were to obtain a more power
    efficient and cost effective
  • model than the original researched inverter
  • Obtained a 60Hz sine wave at the output, which is
    needed for
  • residential applications
  • Successfully lit up an LED that represents a
    possible power using
  • device in a household
  • Switched to a less costly transistor, saving
    money on the overall
  • design
  • Simulated an output voltage of 120VAC
  • Simulated an output power of 240 Watts

Project Overview
  • Circuit Design
  • The final circuit schematic included a LC filter
    which helped
  • obtain a smooth sinusoidal output
  • If I use a solar cell as the voltage source, I
    can then
  • use the inverter for residential
    applications
  • Organization
  • The circuit was continually tested in PSpice and
    the lab

Project Conclusions/Outcomes
  • The output frequency of the inverter is 60Hz
  • The input voltage from the alternative energy
    source was registered
  • at VIN 5.32 VDC
  • The output voltage achieved for the individual
    prototype was registered
  • at VOUT 120 VAC
  • The output power was theoretically measured at
    240 Watts
  • Our inverter circuit successful functionality was
    indicated by our LED
  • lighting up as a load across CBooster
  • By replacing the input voltage with a solar cell,
    the inverter can be
  • applied for residential use
  • Actual circuit is possibly more power efficient
  • Actual circuit is possibly more cost effective
