Why a Community College?
  • Loss of AF mid-level managers in early 70s
  • Technology was rapidly advancing
  • Beginning of all-volunteer force
  • Education seen as critical
  • Few civilian degrees related to AF jobs
  • Frequent transfer resulted in credit loss
  • Quality of USAF training already recognized

CCAF founded 1 April 1972
  • 17 July 1976, President Gerald Ford signed
  • Public Law 94-361 authorizing ATC to confer
  • the Associate Degree
