Strategies In Reading

• Continued to train additional schools in Steps To
  Literacy (STL) program. 22 schools trained by the
  end of year
• Select and purchase reading software to help
  secondary students
• Installed and used Lexia reading software in nine
  secondary schools

• Developed benchmark assessments for grades 3-8,
  selected HS courses
• Developed Data Warehouse to study achievement
  trends and enable LCPS to monitor and design
  programs based on data trends

• Implementing program for LEP students Sheltered
  Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) completed
  in 16 schools
• Added an ESL/LEP writing course to improve
  language skills
