Family Separation Allowance Type II
  • Member with Dependents or an Active Duty spouse
    may not be applied until member has been TAD away
    from his PDS continuously for more than 30 days.
    On the 31st day away from his PDS FSA II will
    start retroactive to day of departure from PDS.

FAMILY SEPARATION ALLOWANCE CONT.
  • FSA II is 250.00 a month (Roughly 8.33 a day).
  • A Marine will rate FSA II from the day they
    depart until the day before they arrive back.
  • Ref DODFMR Vol. 7A, Chap 27 and MCTFSPRIM, Chap
    9 par 90301.

HOSTILE FIRE PAY (HFP)
  • Service Members on official duty who are subject
    to hostile fire/mines in designated area (land or
    airspace) will receive this credit when
    performing assigned duties in a designated
    location beginning and ending that month. If a
    member is in a designated area for one day,
    member will rate entitlement for the entire month.

HOSTILE FIRE PAY CONT.
  • Hostile Fire Pay is 225.00 per month (Roughly
    7.50 a day).
  • Ref DODMFR Vol. 7A, Chap 10 and MCTFSPRIM Chap 9
    par 90701.

HARDSHIP DUTY PAY-LOCATION (HDP-L)
  • Start HDP-L will accrue if the member remains in
    designated location for a continuous period of 30
    days or more.
  • On the 31st day in a designated location HDP-L
    will start retroactive to the day of arrival.
  • Member will rate HDP-L for everyday that he/she
    is in a designated area.

  • Afghanistan - 100 a month
  • Kuwait - 100 a month
  • Iraq - 100 a month
  • (Roughly 3.33 a day.)

COMBAT ZONE TAX EXCLUSION (CZTE)
  • Members on official duty in a designated location
    are subject to exclusion on all taxable income.
  • If a member is in a CZTE designated area for one
    day, member rates entitlement for the entire
    month.

CZTE CONT.
  • Marines that are currently (Including Deployed
    Entitlements) making more then the SgtMaj of the
    Marine Corps base pay plus Hostile Fire Pay
    (225) will not be completely tax free. These
    Marines will only pay taxes on wages earned over
    the amount of the SgtMaj of the Marine Corps base
    pay plus HFP.

CZTE CONT
  • The same applies to Combat Leave.
  • Ref DODFMR Vol. 7A Chap. 44 and MCTFSPRIM Chap
    8, par 80604.

DEPLOYED PER DIEM
  • All members in designated area will receive 3.50
    a day for meals and incidental expenses (Roughly
    105.00 a month).
  • Member will not rate Deployed Per Diem on the
    first and last day of deployment.
  • Ref MARADMIN 050/03.

FIELD RATIONS CHECKAGE
  • While traveling government air members will be
    checked Field Rations for meals.
  • Members will be checked Field Rations the day of
    departure and the following day.
  • The amount of the checkage is 3.50 a day.
  • No member will be checked Field Rations while in
    Kuwait/Iraq.

FIELD RATIONS CHECKAGE CONT.
  • No member who travels via commercial flight will
    be checked Field Rations because his/her meals
    are not the at expense of the government.
  • Ref DODFMR Vol 7A, Chap 25 and MCO 10110.47.

DISCOUNTED MEAL RATE
  • If member has a meal card his/her Discounted Meal
    Rate will stop being deducted the day before
    he/she departs for deployment. DMR is stopped a
    day prior to deployment so Check Field Rations
    can be reported for the day of departure. Start
    DMR will be reported the day after member
    returns.

DMR CONT.
  • DMR is started on this day so that Check Field
    Rations can be reported on the day of arrival.
  • Member will continue to receive BAS while not
    being deducted DMR while Forward Deployed.

SPECIAL LEAVE ACCRUAL (LEAVE RESTORATION)
  • If deployed, member may accumulate leave in
    excess of 60 days during a fiscal year not to
    exceed 90. Request must be made via chain of
    command to the approving authority by the end of
    the first quarter of the following fiscal year.

SLA CONT.
  • i.e., Request for FY02 leave restoration must be
    submitted after 20020930 but no later then
    20031231.

  • COMBAT LEAVE IS NOT EXTRA LEAVE!

COMBAT LEAVE CONT.
  • Combat leave is regular leave earned for service
    in a designated Combat Zone Tax Exclusion Area.
    Member will accrue 2.5 days of combat leave every
    month that CZTE is rated.

COMBAT LEAVE CONT.
  • Any leave that is taken after leaving CZTE will
    be the first charged from combat leave balance.

SPLIT PAY
  • Split pay is a way that Marines can receive a
    portion of their paycheck while forward deployed.
    If a Marine wishes to participate in split pay
    he/she must enroll prior to deployment. If a
    Marine has split pay but does not withdraw all of
    it while forward deployed, the remaining money
    will be credited once Stop Split Pay has been
    reported on Unit Diary.
