Goal The goal must be a result of data
analysis and study. The goal must be student
centered. For example The number of students

must be measurable. For example will increase
by at least three percent.

The goal must reflect current baseline data and
the expected gains. For example from 47 to
50, as measured by the results of the New Mexico
Standards Based Assessment. Goal Example The
number of students in the district scoring at or
above Proficiency will increase by at least
three percent, from 47 to 50 as measured by the
New Mexico Standards Based Assessment (NMSBA).

• The (number or percentage) of students scoring
  proficient or above in (Math, Reading etc.) will
  increase by at least 3, (from ------ to -----),
  as measured by (name of assessment).
• Sample Goals
• The percentage of students, who score proficient
  or above in reading, will increase by at least
  3, based on results from the 2005 New Mexico
  Standards Based Assessment (NMSBA), from 47 to
  50.
• 2. The number of students scoring proficient or
  above in math will increase by at least 3, from
  134 to 138, as measured by results of the New
  Mexico Standards Based Assessment (NMSBA).

• Sample Goals
• The percentage of students referred for
  discipline problems will decrease by 3, from 18
  to 15, as measured by a referral log kept by the
  school principal.
• The student attendance rate will increase from
  89 in 2004 to 92 in 2005 as measured by the 40,
  80 and 120 day ADM Report.

5. The average percentage of students reading at
or above grade level will increase by 5, from
the 2004 average of 60 to 65, as measured by
the (NWEA) short cycle assessment. 6. Based on
student participation in bullying programs
provided during health and wellness classes, the
number of bullying incidents will decrease by at
least 3 as measured by school incident reports.
