  • Day 1 Orientation

Objectives
  • Students will review behavioral expectations,
    course materials, and whole group and independent
    reading group routines for the Read 180 lab
  • Students will preview R-books
  • Students will complete one-minute book reads and
    select a book to read during independent reading
    time

Read 180 Lab Behavioral Expectations
  • A. Transition quietly
  • B. Keep voice volume at a reasonable level
  • C. Stay on task!

Class Structure
  • Whole Group Instruction for 20 minutes
  • Three Rotation Stations
  • (20 minutes at each station, total time 60
    minutes)
  • A. Modeled/Independent Reading
  • B. Computer Station
  • C. Small Group Instruction
  • Whole Group Wrap Up/ Closure for 10 minutes

Keeping Time
  • Rotation Stations are each 20 minutes
  • Timer goes off after 17 minutes
  • 3 minute warning to finish up what you are
    working on
  • A. Independent/Modeled Reading
  • Begin reading log
  • B. Computer Station
  • Finish the activity you are on
  • C. Small Group Instruction
  • Finish the activity

When leaving a rotation station
  • At the end of each rotation station, clean up and
    put materials away!
  • A. Modeled/Independent Reading
  • Return books to the appropriate shelf
  • B. Computer Station
  • Wipe down headsets, return to hook on the
    side of the computer
  • C. Small Group Instruction
  • Return rBook to desk

    independently. Please record your answers in
