Where did you grow up and how long did
You live there?
  • I was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there
    for approximately 10 years.

Why did you join the service and what branch?
  • At the time I was twenty and I was bored . I
    joined the military in the us navy.

  • What sort of hobbies did you and your friends
    have?
  • Play tag, draw, and just being a kid.
  • What was your elementary school like?
  • I had a very good experience at C.L.Milton.
  • Was religion important?
  • No, I was just being a kid

Why did you join the navy?
  • Because I wanted to travel the world.

What were your job assignments?
  • I was an English mechanics man I worked on jet
    engines.

What are some of your memorable expiriences?
  • Just seeing different cultures and different
    religions.

What were some of the places you visited?
  • Malta, Benasisily, Italy, Paris, Egypt, Israel,
    South Arabia, Dobby, Philippine, Australia,
    Opart, Tasmania, Propnaowa, Caribbean, Canada.

Out of all the cities which one was your
favorite and why?
  • I have to say Italy because of their culture and
    people.

How did you stay in touch with your family?
  • By phone and cards.

Did you lose any loved ones while in the
military?
  • No

What was the food like?
  • it was pretty good. We ate what you usually eat
    here in the states. We also ate different foods
    like camel meat.

Did you do anything special for good luck?
  • Just being aware of my surroundings and being
    careful.

Do you remember any humorous or unusual events?
  • In Boot camp I saw a couple of grown men crying
    for their mothers.

What did you think of the other officers and
soldiers?
  • Well they are people with different
    characteristics and I dont judge, but I did meet
    really great people.

Do you recall the day your service ended and did
you do?
  • It was January 4, 1999 on Wednesday. I went home
    and partied.

Did they make you a welcome home party?
  • Yes, lots of my friends got together and threw
    me a party.
