Current Team Uniform RequirementsFront
Front of Uniform Options
All jerseys (except goalkeepers) shall be
numbered on the front with a different Arabic
number at least 4 inches in height This number
must be placed on the jersey or short
1 manufacturers logo 2¼ square inches is
permitted on each item (visible anywhere on the
uniform)

REGULAR SEASON Overtime
  • Two 5-minute OT periods
  • Teams change ends between first and second OT
    period
  • If still tied after 2nd OT period, game is
    recorded as a tie.

POST Season Overtime
  • Two 5-minute OT periods (teams change ends after
    1st OT)
  • If still tied, 5-minute sudden victory OT
  • If still tied, teams change ends and play another
    5-minute sudden victory OT

POST Season Overtime
  • If still tied, teams will take 5 PKs in
    alternating fashion
  • If still tied, PKs are repeated adding sudden
    victory element
  • SV penalty kick procedure is repeated until the
    tie is broken

Interrupted/Suspended Post-Season Games
  • If 1st half is complete and one team is ahead,
    game over.
  • If 1st half (or more) is complete and score is
    tied, resume at point of interruption
  • If 1st half is not complete, resume at point of
    interruption

Eight-Goal Rule
  • Shall be in effect for ALL REGULAR SEASON games
    AND District Tournament matches UNLESS, prior to
    the start of the season, a district council
    elects not to use the 8-goal rule.
  • 8-Goal rule provides that if, at anytime after
    the mid-point of the second half of play, one
    team leads by 8 or more goals, the match shall be
    terminated.

  • When schools play outside their district, the
    home schools district policy applies.

VHSL Play for a Cure
  • VHSL Play for a Cure is an invitation to all
    teams in all member schools to plan and
    participate in an event designed to increase
    awareness about breast cancer among high school
    students, faculty and staff, and the school
    community at large.
  • May 2-21, 2011 has been designated for events
    that raise awareness about breast cancer.

State Event Passes
  • Officials may purchase through association
    commissioner.
  • Cost is 15.00
  • Admittance to ALL VHSL state tournament level
    events in all sports.

OFFICIAL CALL is the EXCLUSIVE PROVIDER of
officials gear at VHSL-sponsored rules clinics
OFFICIAL CALL is the only vendor permitted at
VHSL-sponsored clinics. Other vendors may
arrange with associations to sell at regular
association meetings.
