  • Water is the only liquid that expands when it
    freezes
  • Water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius
  • The surface area of an ice cube affects how
    fast it melts

Materials and Procedure
  • Materials Metric measuring cup, sphere form,
    cube form and disk form, thermometer, metric
    ruler, freezer, wire rack, digital watch and
    camera.
  • Procedure
  • Fill each form with 100ml of water
  • Freeze overnight
  • Place frozen shapes on drying rack and measure
    the thickness of each
  • Measure the thickness of each shape every 15
    minutes
  • Measure the temperature of the room and the ice
    cubes
  • Note which shape melts the fastest

Conclusion
  • My hypothesis was that the shape of an ice cube
    affects how quickly it will melt. In my
    experiment I found out that a thin disk melts
    faster than a cube or a sphere. My hypothesis
    was correct.
