Title: Part 5 will have 2 paragraphs:

1
Part 5
  • Part 5 will have 2 paragraphs

2
Open a new Word document
  • Please save this as Part 5
  • Go to page 58 for a proper heading and insert a
header if it goes beyond one page. This part of
your paper should be NO longer than 2 pages.
  • Make sure it is double spaced (you should know
how to do this by now) and in a 12 point font.
  • Label this Part 5
  • Move to next slide when done

3
Overview
  • Part 5 will have 2 paragraphs.
  • The first one will be about what you learned
  • The second one will be about what you still need
to find out about your topic, or your next
steps (what will you do now that you know all
    this information?)
  • Move to the next slide to begin.

4
Materials
  • Open your I-Search word document on the computer.
  • Get out your Handbook, and turn to pages 87-88.
  • Go to the next slide

5
Examples
  • Read the example Part 5 on page 87-88 of your
    handbook (yes, the whole page).
  • Things to notice
  • Para 1 is a good summary of what she found out.
  • Para 2 starts with what she would still like to
knowboth things she failed to find in her
research, and new questions that arose because of
what she did find in her research. Then moves
into next steps what she will do now. Ends with
a memorable and genuine last statement.

6
Now, write!
  • Remember, Part 5 has 2 paragraphs, and both of
them are required. Read the next 2 slides to
find out what questions you need to answer in
    each paragraph.

7
Part 5, Paragraph 1
  • Address several of the following ideas in a
    well-organized paragraph with smooth transitions.
  • Summarize what you learned. Explain how you did
or didnt answer your Research Question (Should I
be a Doctor or a Dentistdid you decide? Which
one? Did you not decide? Why not?). Explain
how this search might have an impact on your
life. Explain the value of the search. Reflect
    upon the process.
  • Do this now and then move onto the next slide.

8
Part 5, Paragraph 2
  • All 3 items required
  • Explain what you still need to know. Now that
youve done this research, what additional
questions do you have? How might you find the
    answers to those questions?
  • Explain Now what? Now that you have your
answer (or dont), what are your next steps?
What do you need to do now?
  • End with a satisfying, memorable sentence that
    wraps up your paper.

9
Check
  • Once you are done writing, check
  • Do you have 2 paragraphs in Part 5?
  • Is the first one focused on what you learned?
  • Is the second one focused on what you need to do
    next?
  • Did you end your paper with a really awesome
    concluding sentence?
  • If you answered yes to all these questions, move
    on.

10
Congrats! Youre done with Part 5.
  • Go back over it and make sure you have no
mistakes you are still responsible for good
grammar, spelling, punctuation and word choice
  • Is it formatted correctly? (See page 58)
  • This is due on Monday, Nov. 22, but you can turn
    it in before that.
  • When you are done, continue working on your
monologue. You should get your monologue done
over the weekend so you can begin practicing and
    getting feedback from me.
