5THE KNEE
6INFILTRATION PROTOCOL 3 - 6 INFILTRATIONS WITH
OXIGEN/OZONE (O2/O3) 1-3 INFILTRATIONS WITH
HYALURONIC ACID
TO REDUCE KNEES INFLAMMATION
7PATELLOFEMORAL SYNDROME IS A PAIN SYNDROME DUE TO
ABNORMAL PATELLA-FEMOR ALIGNMENT THAT CAUSES
DISCOMFORT IN KNEES FLEXION AND EXTENSION
8MCCONNELL TAPING
THE PURPOSE OF MCCONNELL TAPING PROCEDURES IS TO
CORRECT ABNORMAL PATELLAR TRACKING AND MAINTAIN
IT THROUGHT PHYSICAL THERAPY EXERCISE.
9TERAPEUTIC TAPE (FIXOMULL STRETCH ON SKIN
OMNITAPE 3.75 CM) WAS APPLIED BY TRAINED
PHYSIOTHERAPIST.
TAPING
THE ORIENTATION OF THE TAPE DEPENDS ON SPECIFIC
NEEDS OF THE PATIENT
GLIDE-CORRECTION
AP-TILT CORRECTION
PUSHING THE SUPERIOR PART OF PATELLA, WE CAN
UNLOAD THE FAT PAD THAT CAUSE PAIN
THE GLIDE OF PATELLA MUST BE CORRECT TO HELP A
RIGHT GLIDE.
ONCE APPLIED, THE PATIENTS SHOULD EXPERIENCE A
RESOLUTION OF SYNTOMPS ASSOCIATED WITH PFPS, THUS
ENABLING THEM TO ENGAGE IN PHYSICAL THERAPY
EXERCISE.
10REHABILITATION EXERCISE
Lateral manual stretching of patella
Vastus lateralis muscle stretching
Posterior chain muscle stretching
11REHABILITATION EXERCISE
General quadriceps muscle Potentiate
Hip adductor strengthening
EMG vastus medialis m.
12RESULTS
AFTER INFILTRATIONS, MCCONNELL TAPING AND
REHABILITATION PROTOCOLS APPLICATION, ATHLETES
HAD RESOLUTION OF SYMPTOMATOLOGY IN 7-10 DAYS AND
THEY RETURNED TO THEIR RACE (INCLUDING JUMPING,
TOURNAMENT AND SLALOM) IN 20 - 25 DAYS.
13CONCLUSION
IN OUR EXPERIENCE THE ASSOCIATION OF INFILTRATION
THERAPY, MCCONNELL TAPING AND REHABILITATION
PROTOCOL IS A RELEVANT PHYSIOTERAPEUTIC
INSTRUMENT THAT ACCELERATES THE RESTART OF THE
SPORTS ACTIVITY IN PATELLOFEMORAL PAIN SYNDROME.
