Operating budget update

• State has a short fall this year -- Medicaid and
  income projections
• Agencies have been told to look for 1-2 cut this
  fiscal year
• Line items(OSC and OARnet) are exempt
• Next biennial plans are in question

Evaluation of potential Software Testbed Facility
-- nuOVL

• Facility for the testing and porting of software
  to/on multiple platforms
• Held a first focus group meeting with interested
  firms
• Second meeting on January 25
• Applied for grants from the Ohio IT Alliance and
  Tech. Action Fund

NCCA Facility

• NCCA National Center for Computational
  Agriculture
• Partners -- OSC, CTC (Cornell Theory Center),
  Cornell and OSU ag colleges
• USDA to fund a virtual NSF like center to provide
  computing resources for computational
  agriculture/environment studies
• OSC would get funding for SMP
• CTC for extended Intel cluster

MHPCC -- a recompetition and good chance for OSC

• OSC is teaming with University of Hawaii, SAIC,
  Boeing and New Mexico Tech
• Charlie attend a meeting in Maui in early December

OSC Role

• OSC will be involved in, transition team during
  the summer, developing center as state resource,
  strategic technical remote and on-site training

Developing plan of DOD Modernization program
(foPET)

• Partners -- Mississippi State, SDSC and OSC,
  senior scientist G. Fox, FSU
• OSC -- support for two Major Shared Resource
  Centers ARL and ASC
• MSU -- Support of ERDEC and NAVO
• SDSC -- Tiger Teams solutions, MSI program and
  other program areas
• Others involved -- Texas, NCSA, OSU, UTK, FSU,
  MSIs and SAIC
