Borrow books from the Social Science Library
  • Borrowing
  • 30 books
  • Short loans (2 days), Normal loans (7 days)
  • Confined items (Library use only eg grey
    literature, theses, legal deposit books,
    journals, reprint collection)
  • Loans can be renewed 7 times (unless recalled by
    another reader)
  • Watch out for fines!

Connecting your laptop to the library wireless
service
  • Connect to OULS-Reader network, open web browser
    and log-in with your library card barcode and
    password (date of birth DDMMMYYYY)

Photocopy and Print in the SSL (7p per A4 sheet)
  • Card from Issue Desk (50p)
  • Top up using machine in photocopy room (10p, 20p,
    50p, 1)
  • Get change from Issue Desk
  • Use same card for printing
  • Use library PCs for printing
  • Give print job a name and password
  • Use the two Pharos print stations in photocopy
    room

  • Subjects cover the causes, experiences and
    consequences of forced migration
  • Regional strengths include Middle East southern
    and east Africa South and SE Asia Europe and
    the UK
  • Dates range mostly from the 1980s onwards

  • The refugee collections are interfiled in the
    main SSL sequence
  • Classified by Library of Congress (LC)
    Classification which orders item by subject
  • Many unique refugee studies books are short loan
    to enable fair access for all
  • See the browsing guides on the SSL web-site to
    locate LC shelf-marks for key FM subjects

    Migration, organised by year and author

  • Search OLIS/SOLO, the RSC web catalogue or the
    hand-list from the Issue Desk
  • Over 500 available spanning a wide range of
    refugee issues, including EU immigration
    controls, children, genocide, war, camps, health,
    famine, landmines and repatriation
