In The Beginning

• African farmers
• Arab nomads
• Farmers let nomads feed off agriculture
• Arabs gave animal products to farmers
• Farmers and nomads intermixed

And The Land Was Dead

• Drought came and farmers did not have food to
  give nomads
• Tension grew between farmers and nomads
• Islamic government gave support to Arabs
• Neighboring Chad gave arms to farmers
• Farmers attacked Sudanese government for not
  supporting them
• Sudanese government gave nomads arms to
  exterminate the farmers and separated them
  racially
• No clear starting point of genocide, tension
  began in late 1980s
• No distinct leader started genocide, tension
  between two groups

Genocide

• Over 800,000 Africans from Darfur have been run
  out of their home by Arab militias
• As of April 4th 2006, estimated death toll at
  400,000

Resolution

• No Resolution
• AU has 7,000 troops in Darfur
• October 4th, 2006, Kofi Annan proposed 4 ways to
  help end Darfur genocide, including setting up a
  Darfur regional office of the UN Advance Mission
  in Sudan (UNAMIS)
• Genocide could have been prevented by not having
  corrupt government and not having a major drought
