Title: Diapositiva 1
1A long time ago Actually, in May 2005, in a far,
far away land, there lived a happy Leonberger pup
named Dakota, who was the fur baby of Laurie
Long. Though Dakota was not a Dachshund, the evil
disease of IVDD had cast its spell in the pups
C5-6 C6-7 discs.
Dakota was a strong and happy dog, but every time
she bowed her head, or bumped into something, she
let out a solft yelp that broke her mommys
heart. So when her Mommy noticed how she carried
on and on with her head downwards, off to the
neurologist they went, to have her Cervical-
Dorsal Laminectomy done.
2When Dakota awoke from the sleeping potion, she
found herself dizzy and wobbly for a few days.
3A lot of rest was needed for her healing, and she
surrounded her self with good friends.
4Though sometimes she would get bored, her mommy
insisted on her resting until the vet approved
for her to move around.
5Dakotas healing process was not easy.
6Her injury swelled up and Had to be drained for
A few days. She also needed some Hot packs
and Meds. But her Mommy and Family took excellent
care Of her and followed The vets advice.

8As time passed, and hair grew back, the swelling

better.

12When she got bored, she even got some calls from
her friends!
13Finally, when the injury had healed, the stitches
were out, and the vet cleared it, the boredom
ended.
14AND THE FUN BEGAN!!!
15Hydrotherapy to rebuild muscle strenght and help
coordination.
16With time and therapy (which included lots of
TLC), Dakota made a wonderful recovery, and grew
her hair back before going to the neuro for her 8
week post op check up.
17From which she came out of as Totally
recovered!!!
